School districts have the opportunity to utilize e-learning days in lieu of emergency days in the case of school closures. In order to do so districts have to have a board approved e-learning plan on file with the Rock Island Regional Office of Education. These plans are good for 3 years. Our plan expired this summer and in order to have the opportunity to utilize e-learning days this year we will need to renew our plan.
In our last e-learning plan cycle, our school board determined that they would prefer to utilize emergency days (traditional snow days made up at the end of the year) rather than e-learning days. However, in the case of an extended closure or facility issue causing a closure of approximately a week or more, it was decided that it would be best to have an e-learning plan available just in case.
You can find the learning plan here. As required by law, at our School Board meeting on September 14th at 6:30 in the conference room, we will hold a public hearing to allow the public to provide feedback about the plan.
