JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Nurse
Reports to: Superintendent
FLSA Class: Exempt

SUMMARY
To provide purposeful health services to district students and staff and act as a health resource person.
DUTIES
- Conducts Vision and Hearing screenings and make referrals as needed.
- Provides professional nursing services as defined in The Illinois Nursing Act (225 ILCS 65).
- Supports Medical Provider orders for medication or modification in physical activity.
- Administers and monitors medication and treatment given in school (subject to local policy regarding the administration of medication at school).
- Acts as liaison between home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector.
- Participates in Student IEP meetings as requested by the Superintendent and teachers.
- Consults with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters.
- Prepares, maintains, and submits up to date health records on all students as necessary.
- Completes all State of Illinois Health reports by state mandated deadlines.
- Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
- Assumes responsibility for identification and referral of students in need of medical care.
- Assumes authority, for the care of a staff member or student who has suffered injury or emergency illness.
- Participates with administration and school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program.
- Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions at each building.
- Assists in health instruction, family education, and other health topics at each building.
- Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health service and health curriculum.
- Administers and monitors medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school.
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a registered professional nurse with a current State of Illinois Professional Nurse’s license.
- Must meet any other certification requirements of the state.
SCHEDULING
The work hours for this position are from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The schedule is subject to change with district demands.

Position Title: Science/Social Studies Teacher

SUMMARY
This position provides instruction to students and performs a wide variety of tasks with curriculum planning, supervision, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, and teaching children in a classroom setting.
DUTIES
- Teacher shall be under the supervision of the Superintendent/Principal and shall cooperate with them in everything affecting the welfare and management of the school.
- Teaches District approved Science and Social Studies curriculum, primarily science, but potentially including Civics, STEM, and US History.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- All school personnel shall be courteous to and considerate of school patrons and friends at all times.
- Teachers are expected at all times to help promote goodwill toward our school in their contacts with the public.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules.
- Teachers should always maintain good discipline by being firm, fair, and friendly.
- The Principal will be responsible for the assignment of teaching staff. Assignments will be made according to the school’s need and on as equitable a basis as possible.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Assists with the planning of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) as designated by administration.
- Participates in IEP meetings with district administration and other staff as determined by district administration.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Remain available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day, such as parent teacher conferences.
- Teachers witnessing accidents in the building or on the school grounds should report all details to the Principal.
- Perform all other duties reasonably related to position as may be assigned by Building Administrator or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Teaching certificate for the particular position as required by the State.
- Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Google Suite).
- Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional
Reports to: Principal
FLSA Class: Non-Exempt
Effective Date: August 7, 2024
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting the teacher and/or administrators in achieving objectives by working with a class, small groups, individual students to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. This position also supports general supervision during lunch and recess.
DUTIES
- Discusses assigned duties with principal and assigned classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations as needed.
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers/administrators, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
- Tutors and assists children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
- Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
- Distributes teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students.
- Distributes tests and homework assignments, and collects them when they are completed.
- Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
- Grades homework and tests, and computes and records results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices as requested.
- Completes required reports in a timely manner.
- Teaches socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
- Works with students with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities as requested by administration.
- May be required to perform tasks that students are not able to do, i.e. taking notes, handling materials, holding books, etc.
- Supports students with academic, social, and emotional needs using trauma-informed practices.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Assists the classroom teacher in other tasks necessary in maintaining a professional and positive classroom environment, and performs other teacher aide duties as may be assigned by the classroom teacher and/or administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a valid IL paraprofessional license.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators, and the general public.
- Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
SCHEDULING
The work hours for this position are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mon-Thurs and 8:45-2:30 on Friday. The schedule is subject to change with district demands.
