HAPPY "PUT UP" FRIDAY!
At Hampton School we fight against the culture of "Put Downs" that seems to persist in our world by intentionally teaching "Put Ups!" Put ups, as you may have heard from your child, are the opposite of put downs. They are things we say to one another to build each other up. They are the things we say to build confidence in others. They highlight the good in others and are often things we might think, but we keep to ourselves. "Put Up Friday" is the day when Mr. Schneider and Dr. Klipsch visit classrooms to give random put ups to students and then students bravely give put ups to one another.
Put ups are not just a great way to help build confidence, but they also create a more safe, caring, and welcoming environment. They nurture positive peer relationships which then allow students to bravely take academic risks, ask questions, work together, and ultimately engage in more rigorous learning.
Ask your child if they gave any put ups today!
